Description

Indications for the EPITACT® hallux valgus day orthosis

With the hallux valgus day orthosis, forget your pain and fully enjoy your activities!

The EPITACT® hallux valgus orthosis realigns your big toe during walking, relieves joint pain, and protects your "bunion" in shoes.

Thanks to its patented patterning that keeps the big toe aligned, it combats factors that worsen the deformation (widening of the forefoot, position of the big toe and the first metatarsal, etc.).

Ultra-thin, the hallux valgus orthosis fits in all your closed shoes.

This model fits both the right and left foot.

Evidence of Effectiveness

Efficacy tests of the hallux valgus day orthosis
More than 7 out of 10 people observed a decrease in joint pain, rubbing pain, and realignment of their big toe after 1 month of using the corrective day orthosis⁽¹⁾.

⁽¹⁾ Study conducted in May 2011 with 39 participants with hallux valgus.

Patented Technology
Combined with an ultra-thin elastic fabric, the patented EPITHELIUM FLEX™ silicone tendon exerts sufficient lateral traction on the big toe to straighten it.

Instructions for Use

Usage advice:

Ensure that your toe is still mobile laterally.
Wash the orthosis before the first use.
The level of correction is adjustable by applying more or less tension on the tendon on your foot: on the first day, do not try to correct the big toe. Then, for 10 days, gradually correct the deviation by pulling the device backward.
The device should be worn daily for optimal effectiveness.

Hallux valgus is a deformity that cannot disappear over time. The hallux valgus corrective orthosis is a Class I medical device that bears the CE marking under regulations. Please read the instructions carefully before use. Manufacturer: Millet Innovation. 01/2024

Precautions

Contraindications for hallux valgus orthosis

Do not use on a skin lesion.
Do not use if the big toe is no longer mobile laterally.
In cases of individuals with diabetes, arteritis, polyneuritis, neuropathy of the lower limbs, or varicose ulcers: seek advice from your doctor or podiatrist, then monitor your foot during use.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Can the soft hallux valgus orthosis be worn at night?
The EPITACT® day hallux valgus orthosis is specially designed to adapt to the foot in the shoe and act during the day while walking. At night, it is preferable to wear the hallux valgus brace, which will be more effective and comfortable during sleep.

How do you choose the right size?
Using a tape measure, measure the circumference of your foot just before the "bunion". Then, refer to the size guide accessible at the top of the page. If you are between two sizes, it is better to choose the smaller one.

Is this orthosis compatible with wearing orthopedic insoles?
If you already wear orthopedic insoles, consult your doctor or podiatrist. Depending on the reason for which the insoles are prescribed, combining a corrective orthosis for hallux valgus may pose a risk of "overcorrecting" the deformity.

Is it normal for the gel pad not to fall on the bunion?
Yes, the silicone gel pad should be placed before the bunion because its role is twofold: it prevents the orthosis from slipping forward and pushes back the first metatarsal.
