What is gonarthrosis?
Gonarthrosis is the medical term for knee osteoarthritis. It is the wear and tear of the knee joint cartilage, either between the femur and the patella (patellofemoral joint), between the femur and the tibia (femorotibial joint), or both. This irreversible deterioration causes pain and gradually reduces mobility and the ability to perform daily activities.
When and for how long should I wear the arthritis knee support?
The PHYSIOstrap® Medical knee support for arthritis can be worn every day, all day long, during regular activity alternating between periods of mobility and static moments. It can be used for prevention or to relieve pain. With durable fabric and high-quality materials, it typically lasts for about 6 months (provided that the instructions for use and care are followed).
How do I choose the right size?
Using a tape measure, measure the circumference of your knee in a semi-flexed position starting from the center of the kneecap. Then refer to the size guide accessible at the top of the page. If you're between two sizes, opt for the smaller one.
Can I wear the medical knee support for sports?
The PHYSIOstrap® Medical knee support is designed for daily wear by active individuals, but not necessarily athletes. For physical activity, EPITACT® has created the PHYSIOstrap® SPORT, which is more suitable due to its design providing more support for intense sports conditions (large amplitude movements, sweating, etc.).
Can this knee support relieve me if I have a meniscus tear?
The arthritis knee support is not suitable for meniscal injuries. It is a patellar knee support that prevents and relieves pain in fragile and painful knees (patellofemoral osteoarthritis, patellar syndrome, patellar tendonitis, ligament fragility, etc.).
